Our History
Caravan & Camping Western Australia History
The Caravan Industry Association Western Australia (Inc) was formed and incorporated as a not-for-profit association in 1961, and changed to Caravan Industry Association Western Australia Incorporated in 2006. In 2024, another change was made to Caravan & Camping Western Australia as we are known today.
The first meeting was held on 23 May 1961 at Revell Hall, Como, and the first Annual Dinner was held on 30 May 1962 at the Shaftesbury Hotel, Northbridge.
Pat Strahan was the first CEO of the Caravan Industry Association WA, appointed in 1999 until ending her term in 2011. We held our first caravan and camping exhibition at McCallum Park on 28 February to 5 March 1973. Since then, we have run over 50 caravan & camping shows around Western
Australia and continue looking into new opportunities for industry events.
Today, we are the peak caravan & camping industry body for Western Australia and we advocate for, represent, and support our members to enhance performance and promote the industry.
